Applies to: the Android and iOS application “Hangul Cryptogram (나랏말)”

Article 1 (Purpose)

These terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the application “Hangul Cryptogram (나랏말)” (the “App”) provided by Appl.GongBang (the “Company”), and the rights and obligations of the Company and its users.

Article 2 (Effect and amendment)

1. These terms apply to everyone who installs or uses the App.
2. The Company may amend these terms where necessary, within the limits of applicable law.
3. Amendments and their effective date will be posted on this page. Amendments unfavourable to users will be posted at least 7 days before they take effect.
4. If you do not agree to the amended terms, you may stop using and uninstall the App. Continuing to use the App after the effective date means you accept the amendment.

Article 3 (The service)

1. The App is a puzzle game in which you find hidden consonants and vowels, shown only as numbers, to complete Korean sentences.
2. Its main features are:
   • sentence puzzles organised into levels that unlock in order
   • a “sentence of the day” that changes daily, with a streak record
   • items that help with solving, such as Reveal, Same number, Auto-fill and Meaning
   • a record of stars and solve time for each level, and comparison with the average time of all players
3. The App requires no sign-up or login and does not create accounts.
4. The Company may improve or change the content, features and puzzle sentences of the service.

Article 4 (Coins and items)

1. “Coins” (엽전) are a unit shown in the App, used to obtain items or to continue a failed round.
2. Coins are provided free of charge only, in the following ways:
   • a reward for solving a level, plus a bonus for newly earned stars
   • a reward for solving the sentence of the day
   • a reward when you choose to watch a rewarded ad to the end (subject to a daily limit)
3. Items (Reveal, ad-free ticket, Same number, Auto-fill, Meaning) are obtained with coins or received as rewards. Items that work for a limited time stop working when that time has passed.
4. Coins and items cannot be bought with money, and the App has no payment feature.
5. Coins and items have no cash or property value. They cannot be cashed out, refunded, transferred, traded with others or taken out of the App.
6. Coins and items are recorded only on your device. If you change devices or uninstall the App, any remaining coins and items are lost and cannot be recovered. The Company cannot store or restore them.
7. The Company may change how coins are given and in what amounts, and the prices and effects of items, where needed to operate the service.

Article 5 (Advertising)

1. The App offers two kinds of advertising:
   • Interstitial ads are shown when a level starts. They are not shown for the first 10 levels started after installing, for the level after an ad-free ticket is used, and in certain other cases.
   • Rewarded ads play only when you choose to watch them; watching to the end gives you coins or a chance to continue.
2. Ads are served through Google AdMob, and every ad request from the App carries a child-directed treatment signal and a general-audience rating limit.
3. Ad content is determined by advertisers and the ad provider and is not individually reviewed by the Company. If you see an inappropriate ad, please tell us at the address in Article 14 and we will take appropriate steps, such as reporting it to the ad provider.
4. Depending on the network or ad inventory, an ad may not be available. In that case no rewarded-ad reward is given, and you can still earn coins by solving levels.

Article 6 (Puzzle sentences and explanations)

1. The puzzle sentences are short passages chosen from proverbs, famous quotes, song lyrics, literary works, film and TV lines, buzzwords and the like. Copyright and other rights in the original texts belong to their respective rights holders, and the Company uses these sentences only as puzzles to be solved.
2. The meanings and sources shown by “Meaning” are reference information to aid understanding. The Company tries to be accurate but they may contain errors, and their accuracy is not guaranteed.
3. If you find an error in a sentence or explanation, or if you are a rights holder and do not want a particular sentence to be used, please tell us at the address in Article 14. We will correct or remove it after checking.
4. Puzzle sentences may be added, changed or removed at the Company’s discretion.

Article 7 (Records and average time)

1. Your records, such as stars, solve times and levels cleared, are stored only on your device and are not sent to the Company’s servers. The Company does not keep them and therefore cannot recover them.
2. The average time shown on the result screen is a reference value calculated from anonymous usage statistics. It may not be shown for levels solved by few players, and it may differ from reality depending on when it was last updated. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Article 8 (User obligations)

You must not:

1. reverse engineer, decompile, copy without permission or modify the App, or attempt to do so;
2. manipulate the App’s data or records to obtain coins, items or records improperly;
3. place abnormal load on the App or its distribution server, or collect or access material by automated means;
4. extract the App’s collection of puzzle sentences, explanations, images or sounds and distribute them or use them commercially without permission; or
5. otherwise violate applicable law.

Article 9 (Intellectual property)

1. The rights in the App and in the images, sounds, puzzle design, explanatory text, trademarks and software it contains belong to the Company or to their rightful owners. The App includes fonts, images and sound effects distributed under open licences, which remain subject to those licences.
2. The Company grants you a non-transferable right to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
3. The rights in the original texts of the quoted sentences in Article 6 are not covered by this article and belong to their respective rights holders.

Article 10 (Changes to and suspension of the service)

1. The Company may change the service, or suspend all or part of it for technical or operational reasons.
2. If the service is to be discontinued permanently, the Company will give advance notice as far as possible.
3. Even if the average-time download or advertising is unavailable, you can keep playing with the puzzle sentences included in the App.

Article 11 (Disclaimer)

1. The Company is not liable when it cannot provide the service for reasons beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, network failures, or policy changes by operating system or device makers.
2. The Company is not liable for problems caused by your device environment or attributable to you.
3. The Company makes no guarantee regarding the information obtained or any learning effect from using the App.
4. Nothing in this article excludes liability for the Company’s wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Article 12 (Children and guardians)

1. The App is a game that children may also use. Because it does not ask anyone’s age, it requests ads as if every user were a child.
2. When a child uses the App, we ask guardians to review these terms and the Privacy Policy and decide whether and how the child uses it.
3. A child can choose to watch rewarded ads on their own, so guardians may wish to guide the child on when and how to use the App.

Article 13 (Governing law and disputes)

1. These terms and the use of the service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
2. If a dispute arises over the use of the service, the Company and the user will make good-faith efforts to resolve it through consultation.
3. If it cannot be resolved by consultation, either party may bring an action before the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act of the Republic of Korea.
4. The Korean language version of these terms is authoritative. Versions in other languages are translations provided for convenience; in the event of any discrepancy, the Korean version governs.
